Eyes front

No rain during the past two days and today was a perfect start to September, clear blue sky and the temperature quite warm. Just the weather to have insects on the move so the hunters were also out and about keen to get a meal.

Yellow Robins are one of the best at getting a feed whether on the wing or  diving onto a hapless insect on the ground. This one was very focused on the ground from its perch on a Banksia branch.

No respect

The hot dry weather continues and the bird bath is a magnet for our garden visitors to have a drink, a splash or a full-on bath.
One visitor this evening came down to check the scene before having a dip and showed no respect for the bronze frog by perching right on its mouth.

Yellow Robins are cheeky little guys flitting here and there always on the lookout for a tasty little insect.

An eye on the prize

Have been quite busy around the property and have not had much time for photos, but today I had the camera handy as I was at the wood heap splitting logs for the fire. A couple of yellow robins were keeping a close watch ready to pounce on any grubs as the logs split.

Ever watchful, the yellow robins like a perch low to the ground where any insect that dares to move is instantly swooped upon, unlike other flycatchers that generally catch their prey on the wing.
